Amy interest in Mæhle? And Can I ask if Chelsea are interested in him?

EmilSC

{Ed002's Note - No, Chelsea has no interest.}

In regards to my previous post. I forgot to mention that one of my friends were in Montpellier, watching a game, and told me of a 16 year old midfielder - Camavinga - who apparently bossed the midfield. Just a side note :)

He is very well known, EmilSC.

Hello Eds. I suppose you have already heard a lot about him and that I'm late to the party, having only heard of him now, so I figured I would ask you what your thoughts are about this new, wonderful player Ansu Fati? He seems to have come out of nowhere, and although I have only seen short clips on youtube, he really does seem like an extraordinary talent. Is it something people close to Barcelona have seen coming? Or is it also a huge surprise to them?
Also makes me wonder: are there any players that are perhaps not so famous to us casual football-viewers, that you think will turn out to be really big talents this season?
One can never love when a new Messi, Mbappe etc shows up out of seemingly nowhere :)

EmilSC

{Ed001's Note - he was well known, the only surprise is that he has stepped up so soon. As for your question about really big talents, I have no idea who would or wouldn't be well known to casual football-viewers mate.}

1.) 15 Sep 2019 22:20:13
Makes sense - I see how that's a pretty hard question to answer ;)

{Ed001's Note - one day someone will figure out how telepathy and I will be able to answer that for you! The problem is we get so many names thrown at us (well I do, I assume the other editors do too) on the sites, that it is hard to know who knows what any more. We are in a bit of a bubble here in regards to that.}

I was wondering if there's any interest in Pione Sisto from Celta Vigo? He's playing playing less and less this season and his level seems to have gotten quite a bit down, but I think I recall interest in him from a few big clubs a year ago?

EmilSC

{Ed002's Note - Southampton is the one side who have had sustained interest going all the way back to his time at Midtjylland and it was only them that sustained it after he move dto Spain. But it has long gone now.}

Hello Eds. What do you guys think of Banega? I didn't get to see the game yesterday, but I've heard he was amazing, and since he's been capped so many times by Argentina, he must be a very good player. Also, do you know if there's any interest in him?

EmilSC

{Ed002's Note - Banega only returned to Seville at the start of this season after lots of interest had been shown. He won’t be moving this summer.}

Hello, Ed.
Can I ask if there is any interest in Adrien Rabiot?
I would also like to know what you think of the player, if you would be willing to share your thoughts on him? I had very high thoughts of him in PSG, but he seems to have not progressed so much in Juventus to me?

EmilSC

{Ed002's Note - Adrian Rabiot (CM) Juventus are looking to replace their midfield misfits (Arthur, McKennie, Ramsey and Rabiot) before the start of the season. They are looking to fund replacements they have already identified. Rabiot will, like every other player, be offered to Newcastle. A third party has been instructed to find him a new home and he can be used in part exchanges. He has been offered to Chelsea as part of a deal for any of several Chelsea players Juventus are interested in, but Chelsea want to keep transfers as clean as possible and may make a cash offer. Approaches have been made to Barcelona - but they will look to others, and Arsenal. Everton and Spurs may provide options.

Rabiot is a very good player but has been trouble off the pitch.}

Thanks for your reply!
Juventus seems to be a club that has quite a few players that have disciplinary issues? Or is that just my take?

{Ed002's Note - No more so than most.}

Hi there, Ed.
It's been a while since I've seen any posts about Joules Kounde - can I ask about interest in him?

EmilSC

{Ed002's Note - Yes the same interest remains in Kounde.}

Hello, Ed.
I have seen rumours in Danish news outlets that Eriksen will be moving to the Premier League, and Brentford has been mentioned as a possible team for him. Is there any truth in this?
Sincerely, Emil

EmilSC

{Ed002's Note - Christian Eriksen (AM) A settlement was reached to terminate the contract with Inter as he is not allowed to play in Italy - a third party has been making enquiries regarding interested sides in England and Brentford may provide an option.}

1.) 18 Jan 2022 07:19:57
Thanks for your reply! Can't wait to see him play again, although I hope he will not be such a menace against Chelsea if he was to return to the league!

Hi Ed.
I was wondering if you would be willing to share which teams are interested in Vlahovic? :)

EmilSC

{Ed002's Note - Dusan Vlahovic (S) Fiorentina eventually managed to hang on to the player last summer regardless of the interest of Manchester City and Atletico Madrid and now want a new contract. The player’s agent has made it clear to the club that the player needs to make a step up and move on. There is significant interest in the player. Milan are keen on the player as an Ibrahimovic replacement - Spurs have the same view in respect of Kane and Antonio Conte is an admirer of the player. Whilst Paratici is keen he may be scared off by the price and could turn to an alternate solution Spurs have in mind. Dortmund see him as a Haaland replacement but a move seems unlikely. Manchester United have had him watched but, like Roma and Arsenal are an unattractive options and can be discounted; whilst the rising cost of the transfer will remove Atletico Madrid from the equation, and they have a far more economically viable solution in mind. Bayern Munich and Juventus offer attractive options which would see him at the top of the game. Juventus have an advantage as the player is keen to remain in Italy – but the club are being pressed to sign another. Bayern Munich are looking for a long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski and know that their first choice is very unlikely to join them as it stands right now. Chelsea are still a striker short and may put a proposal to Fiorentina but it is difficult to see the move happening. Barcelona may become an option if they lose out on Haaland and, critically, if Fiorentina would accept players as part of a deal. I think it unlikely. PSG cannot be discounted as an Icardi replacement. Inter want the future of Lautaro Martinez resolved else they will also look to him. Manchester City should still not be discounted and he I seen as a very clear option to Harry Kane. The player was happy to stay this season but there will be efforts made in January to agree a transfer, perhaps for the summer. The compelling case for him to stay where he is for this season has proven correct with his value increasing and a wider range of clubs interested. The best advice would be to see what happens in Munich and Turin - and don't rule out a bid from Spurs or Manchester City. Fiorentina will look to €90M or €100M.}

What a great piece of information. Thanks a lot, Ed.
As a Chelsea fan it's sure interesting to see us mentioned as being interested. In general, I find it amazing how you've mentioned that we are after top class strikers like Vlahovic and Haaland, even after signing Lukaku.
I have a difficult time seeing how we would fit either Vlahovic or Haaland in the same squad as Lukaku, but I do agree that we could use one more attacker. Sure am interested to see what Chelsea will do in that regard!

Hi Ed.
I was wondering if Milan getting Mike Maignan changes Donnarumma's situation? To me Maignan seems like a keeper that's too good to be benched!

EmilSC

{Ed002's Note - Gianluigi Donnarumma (G) was first choice in 2020 and will be first choice in 2021 if Chelsea push with their plan to sell Kepa Arrizabalaga and use Mendy as a second choice. There are three issues with renewing in Milan: a contract clause, agent fees and wages (and that problem has now worsened). PSG, Inter and Juventus remain keen to take him - Inter can likely be discounted but Juventus might offer a decent option although the Milanese supporters will be very unhappy and the player will be aware of that.}

What I find most bizarre in this transfer saga, is that Barcelona somehow think Martin Braithwaite is their best option in this case. As a Dane I have followed the player pretty closely, and that Barcelona don't have a youth player who can do a job as well as Braithwaite. Also, it's a massive (! ) price for a player of his quality, a long contract and a high release clause. Isn't that a bit short-sighted if Barcelona are looking to sell him already this summer?

A small, cruel but peculiar bit of information about Braithwaite that you guys might not know is that his name is pronounced "Brathwaite", not Braithwaite - some generations ago, one of his kin was wrongfully written in some sort of book by a slave owner as Braithwaite, instead of Brathwaite which was the real last name of the family.

Are Chelsea the ones that enquired, since they’ve missed out on their primary target (as far as I Can understand from your posts)? Of course just hoping that you might want to answer a question about Chelsea, but I understand if it isn’t Worth The grief.

EmilSC

{Ed002's Note - It is unimportant - why try and make everything about Chelsea, it looks stupid.}

Lovely anecdote - and definitely a nice view to have on it, and something I could use at times. I always love to hear more about you and the other Eds, so I only see it as a small treat! It's a bit funny how people interact so often on these pages and know almost nothing about each other apart from maybe which football clubs they support and maybe their nationality!

EmilSC

{Ed001's Note - that is a good point, it is amazing, but you would also be amazed how many moans get sent in when anyone tries to discuss anything else. I have realised that the most enjoyable sites to edit are those where they do talk about other things as well. People on there mostly interact more when they know a bit more about each other and are more polite to each other.}

Thanks for your reply. Of course I am far from objective in my assessment of the players, but I do agree that Cech is probably the one who had the highest peak.
I was never the biggest fan of van der Saar, but I heavily disliked him, so once again I cannot be objective in my assessment of him! ;)

EmilSC

{Ed001's Note - that is the problem, it is easy to get caught up in subjectivity and emotion when talking about footie. I used to be terrible for it, but as a kid my grandad would sit down and explain to me about how useful it was in important situations to be able to remove emotion and analyse things. He was one of, possibly the, first paramedic in the UK and taught paramedics and St John's Ambulance etc so for him he saw it as a matter of life and death, literally, to be able to shut off emotion and look at things completely objectively. He drummed it into me and so I can do the same about anything. It came in useful for exams and stuff like that, as when the pressure is on I can just carry on as normal. Sorry no idea why I just wittered on there!}

Ed may I ask which goalkeepers you would rate higher of Cech, Casillas, Buffon and van der Saar? :)

EmilSC

{Ed001's Note - Casillas was not that good so he is the lowest of them by a margin. To be truly fair it would depend on what team they are in. Van der Saar is the best with his feet and so would be better in a Man City-type but overall as a keeper I would just edge it to Cech before his head injury. However after his head injury he was never quite the same and was a little hesitant at times. So over the course of their career it has to be Buffon for his incredible consistency and longevity - he is still playing now! There is very little to choose between the three of them though and a lot of the choice would come down to what you wanted from your keeper.}
