Hi eds

I’m hearing higuain is off to Milan on a loan deal (Sky sports) . Could one of you maybe explain the logic of this move to me because I don’t understand it?

Juventus don’t get a fee for a player past his best so his value will no doubt reduce further when he returns. There’s been interest in him from elsewhere with some quite significant fees rumoured.

They also are giving him to a direct rival and even though he won’t play against them he would still likely strengthen Milan significantly.

Milan are seemingly getting a steal, the goals he’ll provide without paying the fee and worrying about his age.

Just seems an odd one to me on Juventus’ part.

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - I don't know what Sky Sports has told you but they are either wrong or you have perhaps misunderstood the situation. Milan have a small amount available to spend beyond transfers and exchanges for next year whilst a new owner is sought to take over from Vulture Fund managers Elliott. THis means they need to do some horse trading. The deal on the table at the weekend was something like this: Juventus lost out on their first choice CB and wanted Leonardo Bonucci back to provide stability - even though he is now aging and his value waning. Milan had Bonucci available as someone they would let go as his value waning, and they wanted Higuain and had been trying hard to strike an exchange deal for the two. Juventus are open to this idea as they no longer need Higuain and they want Bonucci and his arrival would free up Caldara who had been away on loan. With Bonucci leaving Milan had a need for a CB and the up and coming MC fitted the bill. So this was all agreed at the weekend with the exception of a balance in the value of the deal. This was determined to be €60M which was beyond what Milan could afford, but only €30M if the move for Higuain was a loan. This again stretched Milan and they have now all amicably settled for a deal which values the loan at around €20M with an added option to buy at a fixed value - which will be in the €45-€50M range. Everybody is happy.}

Ah I see, thanks for an incredibly detailed response. At my time of reading I didn’t see anything on Sky sports about a fee or Bonucci being involved hence it didn’t seem to make any sense to me. It makes a hell of a lot more sense now you’ve cleared all that up, cheers.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome. I don't know if has been finalised yet but most of this went on amicably at the weekend - but it has been simmering for a while and there was a need to sit down and sort out the packaging.}

Ed002 was De Ligt Juventus first choice that they lost out on? Is he staying at Ajax or moving elsewhere if so?

You mentioned elsewhere Douglas Costa has been offered to clubs for profiteering, how much profit are they looking for and have they had any interest from clubs?

Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - They do not wish to sell De Ligt as it stands even though he would have been happy to move to Turin. Costa stands Juventus in at €46M (€6M + €46M) and they would like to double their investment a club who enquired were told - which makes it between €80M and €92M. They won't get that.}

Ed2 given that Bonucci is part of the deal, are Juventus open to selling Rugani given that he may not be starting all of their games. Thanks in advance mate. Your detailed reply was excellent.

{Ed002's Note - They are not looking to sell Rugani.}

Thanks Ed002.Jeeze that's madness looking for that much, like only a handful of clubs could pay that for a player surely.

{Ed002's Note - Right.}

Are Chelsea the ones that enquired, since they’ve missed out on their primary target (as far as I Can understand from your posts)? Of course just hoping that you might want to answer a question about Chelsea, but I understand if it isn’t Worth The grief.

{Ed002's Note - It is unimportant - why try and make everything about Chelsea, it looks stupid.}

Wow so Ronaldo to Juventus is all done, interesting to see how long he competes at the highest level, I suspect a good few years yet.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he smashed 40+ goals and wins the ballon dor next season.

Amazing that in terms of a fee Ronaldo has spent 10 years at Real Madrid and leaves age 33 and Madrid are still making a profit on him! Shows what an incredible talent he is.

Hi eds, apologies if this is an obvious question but is Zidane seen as a permanent, long term manager at Real Madrid or a short term solution.
Thanks

RVD1997

{Ed001's Note - depends how he does, but they would certainly like him to be the long term answer.}

Great insight on Azpi there Ed2, I always got the impression that he was a true professional and never the type to really complain. Always gives 100% for us and so far I’m more than happy with him at CB in a 3, not so much in a 2 but that would never happen anyway. Future captain one day for me.

Hi Ed
You’ve said on a number of occasions that Pogba has been offered to 4 clubs but I think you said none of these were interested.
Any chance you could say who these clubs are out of interest?
Thanks.

RVD1997

{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG and Chelsea.}

I wasn't under the impression cuadrado was on some sort of long term loan from Chelsea that juventus had paid fees for, so wouldn't it be down to Chelsea to recall then sell him? Or have I got that wrong?

RVD1997

{Ed002's Note - You have it wrong.}
