Hi ed's - after watching the CL last night I was wondering why Barcelona let Dani Alves go? He has performed at a high level all season and is certainly better than the right-back he was replaced with - why did he end up leaving for Juventus? Cheers

{Ed001's Note - lots of reasons, wage demands, his performances had dropped and they wanted to look more long term. Plus his attitude was not the best there. It must be said they looked to have it spot in for the first half of the season, Dani Alves did not start off well at all.}

Those mitigating factors do make the transfer far more understandable, thanks for the quick response Ed.

{Ed001's Note - I think we should be giving credit to Allegri for getting those performances out of a player who looked past his best really, rather than criticising Barca for cashing in.

And you are very welcome Seano. Good to see you on these pages too.}

Hi Ed002 - as you mentioned Coman what is the situation with him? Am I right in thinking he is on loan from Juventus? If so do Bayern have an agreement to purchase him when his loan is up or will he simply head back to Juve? Just curious as 2-year loans for talented players rarely take place.

{Ed002's Note - Bayern Munich has an option which they will take up this summer to buy Kingsley Coman (effectively to replace Robben in a year or so) for a smallish fee. But if the player does not want to make his move to Bayern Munich permanent he knows that Juventus has been approached by Chelsea and Manchester City to say they would be interested if he were available - and that would suit Juventus much better.}
