I see the Fiorentina chairman has been putting some pressure on Federico Bernardeschi, via the Italian press, to sign a new contract.

Is there any update on where he may move to? I seem to remember Inter and Chelsea were interested.

J.

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea very keen but Fiorentina don't want to sell but their hand could be forced by someone coming even close to their outrageous asking price - and there is interest from PSG and Inter as well.}

Can any of the Eds say who's currently interested in signing Icardi from Inter? I'm aware that Chelsea were whilst Mourinho was at the club - mainly interested if their interest went with Mourinho?

J.

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed. Inter's Mauro Icardi has been subject to sustained interest from Atletico Madrid and Chelsea, with PSG and Arsenal continuing to watch the player. He was very much Chelsea's first choice striking addition for the summer of 2015 but he eventually signed a new deal with Inter - a contract that is in his favour unlike the one he had previously. It was very unlikley, regardless of a number of difficulties there were with the player, that they would look to sell in January unless they were to receive a very, very good offer, but they did have a replacement in mind in Embolo, in addition to Calleri who they were negotiating over. However, Inter did need to raise money for purchases and were actively looking at players with Piero Ausilio attending two games in London and holding discussions with Chelsea over another player, offloading Icardi in January would potentially have given them two or three of their desired targets. The asking price for Icardi was €40M and they were firm on that but they say that they received no offers at all in January - but they were discussing a possible deal with PSG which is likely now off the table. They will sell to raise funds and a summer mover is on the cards.}

Tuttosport reporting that Juventus have turned their attention to signing Fabregas from Chelsea. Are they interested in signing him?

Ed, are there any Serie A players at the Euros, that haven't been discussed previously on this page or the Chelsea one, who Chelsea are looking to sign this summer?

J.

{Ed002's Note - I doubt it. Why the obsession with Serie A?}

Ok, cheers for the reply. Why the obsession with Serie A? A waisted youth watching Football Italia on Sunday afternoons - Channel 4.

Ed, is anyone looking at Inter Milan defender Jeison Murillo as a potential summer 2016 signing?

J.

{Ed002's Note - when Benitez was asked (when at Real Madrid) about Inter Milan's supposed "valuation" of Jeison Murillo and their rejection of an offer of €35M from Real Madrid he was rather bemused. Whilst Inter are keen to raise cash to buy with, I would expect that they would bite the arm off any club offering what is five times what they paid last summer but a third party has made an approach to them on behalf of Manchester United.}

I don't know much about him ed is he highly rated?

Is this a transfer you could see happening?

Thanks

{Ed002's Note - Murillo is very well thought of but price could be an issue. He is a player that a number of sides have looked at but the only approach at this time has been from Manchester United. Others, such as Chelsea, who are looking at centre backs may well consider him as he is much better value that the likes of John Stones - but Stones is English which makes him more desirable. Right now you have several high end clubs clooking for centre backs and Inter need funds, so it won't be a surprise to see a move this summer.}

Ed, can you offer any insight into the Pjanic to Chelsea
rumours? Is it true Real Madrid and PSG would also like to sign him? Cheers.

J.

{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid, PSG and Manchester City all remain keen on the signing of Miralem Pjanic and although they may need to sell before buying it is less likely they will now be put off by the price. PSG were willing to include Verratti as part of the deal but Verratti was not keen and is now staying. Real Madrid would likely not prioritise the move and have moved on to consider another player ahead of Pjanic. Manchester City may still look to Pjanic in the summer but they have other proiorities. Liverpool and Spurs enquired in the summer and were made aware that he could be available at the right price - but that would be very high (€50M) and the player has said he has no interest in either club. Chelsea are looking to Pjanic for the summer of 2016 and are looking to negotiate a more sensible transfer fee and certainly more sensible wages. Talks took place in Monaco recently.}

Ed001 - what are your thoughts on Harry Maguire. I think he looks solid when he needs to and can play the ball out, but seems to know when to play and when to clear his lines. Leicester will do well to keep hold of him.

Godin is the best CB going for me, just pure class.

Cheers Ed, big part of me thinks his appointment would be a good thing for Chelsea, however there is a small part of me that sees this appointment in a similar way to when they appointed Scolari - that didn't go so well.

I believe the Zenit offer remains 'on the table', not buying all the press reports that his move to Chelsea is all but done - they're already getting a lot of their 'facts' wrong.

J.

{Ed001's Note - they are making assumptions as usual.}

Ed, what is your view on Sarri - purely from a coaching perspective?

J.

{Ed001's Note - he is a very good coach, plays good football, but he lacks the trophies he needs to win to prove himself as a top level coach.}
